Sol Tenerife

My stay at Hotel Sol in Tenerife was deeply unsatisfactory and distressing. Upon arrival, I was shocked to find the room infested with cockroaches, which immediately raised serious concerns about hygiene and safety standards. When I approached the hotel staff and management about the issue, their response was alarmingly indifferent. I was told, “We cannot guarantee that the other room we will give you won’t have cockroaches either.” Such a statement is both unprofessional and unacceptable, especially for a hotel that presents itself as a reputable establishment. In addition to the pest problem, the noise levels throughout the night were intolerable, making it nearly impossible to get any rest. The lack of soundproofing and overall management of guest conduct further contributed to an already unpleasant environment. Due to the severity of the situation, I filed an official complaint with the local authorities. I urge potential visitors to be extremely cautious when choosing accommodation in Tenerife. Many previous reviews warning travelers to avoid this hotel were absolutely justified—unfortunately, I ignored them and regret it. I strongly recommend avoiding Hotel Sol entirely. There are far better, cleaner, and more professionally managed options available on the island. Your health, comfort, and peace of mind are worth more than what this hotel offers.

HORRIBLE HOTEL! Trust me when I say the whole experience from when we arrived until we left was awful. Rooms were so dirty, water wasn't working in room, noise level from outside and inside hotel was so loud. You will not sleep till maybe 6am if your able to sleep on dirty beds ,towels are filthy dirty. Bugs in the room, list is endless. It was awful ,worst holiday ever Drugs in and around the hotel area. Felt so dangerous followed in the streets ,not a safe area. Golden Mile is approx 1.5km away so much nicer and safer up that area so stay there! Complained to manager on check out and she did not care!

This hotel is a disgrace to the Melia brand and is the worst hotel you could imagine staying in. The communication between management and customer service is atrocious. We are currently staying here and arrived Thursday when the hotel workers strike was on. We arrived late and our room did not lock. We were told we would have to wait until the morning to get this resolved due to the strike.. Upon arrival to the buffet we were greeted with minimal food choices which were not labelled which is a major problem when you have a severe nut allergy! Again, fobbed off by the hotel....Disgraceful! The cutlery was plastic and the plates were paper... this carried on through to the Friday too.... We then headed to the bar... the pool bar was the only one open due to the strike which shut at 8pm even though we were on the All Inclusive Package with advertised service until 11pm.. Oh and did I mention the cleaners were also on strike?..... We have complained to the hotel but they assure us that their service provided was up to their standards?!! Seriously Sol Tenerife for the £400 a night is this really acceptable? I wouldn't wish their customer service or empathy on my worst enemy!!

Holiday Review: Sol Tenerife – April 2025 I stayed at Sol Tenerife in April 2025 for a week-long getaway, and overall, it was a really enjoyable and an experience with a few things to keep in mind depending on what you're looking for. We went as 2 adults along with our 17 & 18 year old for the experience of being literally on the strip. Location – 5/5 You can't beat the location – right in the heart of Playa de las Américas, steps from the beach, shops, restaurants, and nightlife. It’s ideal if you like being close to the action and enjoy walking everywhere. To note you will hear the action until 6am each morning. Hotel & Facilities – 3/5 The hotel is a little dated in some areas but clean and well-maintained. The pools are great (there are 2), sunbeds available but past 11 you will struggle and the hotel was not at full capacity so you may struggle in the summer peak period. The view from the sea-facing rooms is absolutely stunning, especially at sunset. On the day of check out you have to book a room and there is only one across the hotel so we had to shower 5 hours before our departure which was disappointing. Especially when the hotel was not at full capacity. Rooms – 3.5/5 Rooms were basic but spacious. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The bathroom could use a refresh, but it was functional. All rooms appear to have a balcony and I would advise on sea facing furthest away from the strip. Food & Drink – 4/5 We went for the B&B option. Breakfast had a good variety (fresh fruit, pastries, cooked options), overall could not fault the breakfast. Entertainment – 3.5/5 The day/evening entertainment was a bit hit or miss, but the staff made a big effort to keep everyone engaged. During the day there were plenty of activities – perfect if you're travelling as a family or want to stay active. Always something entertaining going on including the guests. Staff – 5/5 Apart from the entertainment team the staff were NOT friendly NOR helpful. Reception was slow and usually always a que. Housekeeping did a great job each day. We did see young lads get fined without previous warnings and just appeared to be a money making scheme. During our stay there was a 2 day strike from hotel staff so that may be a reason but the staff work in hospitality. Things to Note: April weather was good – warm and sunny with a slight breeze. However, either side of our holiday weather was poor. The area gets noisy at night due to nearby clubs, so if you're a light sleeper, maybe request a room away from the street. Hotel caters to a mix of families, couples, and groups, so it has a lively vibe. Beach was lovely. Overall Rating: 3/5 Would I stay again? No as we did this solely for the kids to enjoy the strip and bars – however value for money. It’s a great base for exploring Tenerife or enjoying a lively beach holiday. I personally would not want to be any more than we were which was 5 nights but it did as expected and we had a fun time.
