Blue Lagoon City Hotel

Sent for a night to Blue Lagoon by Jet 2 after an over night delayed flight. Welcome at reception very friendly and organised, despite being 4am and organised at no notice. Room spotlessly clean, comfortable bed. Much more so than the bed in the previous 5 * luxury hotel! Staff excellent, again more friendly and professional than the staff in the previous hotel by a mile. Pool nice and warm. Breakfast and lunch at the snack bar were great. Exactly what we needed and made a really stressful and inconvenient time much more pleasant. Particular shout out to the pool snack bar staff on duty on Monday. They were so helpful and friendly.

Hello Blue Lagoon city hotel, I am normally not the person to write a review as I worked in tourism myself for many years and I know how personal an experience can be. But, this time, I make an exception in the hope the management can see it as constructive feedback.. I am Belgian, living in Bodrum (Turkey) for 17 years already. This time I came to Kos with my husband only to spend a day & night, a nice & easy weekend away after a busy work-week. It was a last minute idea, so I checked online, saw this hotel with many good reviews and central location. Most websites had a similar price offer around 80€/night (with breakfast). A little above budget as the hotel is only a place to spend the night for us but it looked so nice that we decided to try it. As I worked in several hotels myself I know the price at the reception can be a little higher but …. we were shoked to learn it was 128 € / night. We asked the receptionist some time to think about it but because our time was so limited, we finally decided just to go for it and spoil ourselves. If you ask this amount of money, much higher then all other hotels in the area, it needs to be very good. But unfortunately it was not. I expected a lot of the breakfast but it was very basic and dissapointing. The ambiance is like eating in a hospital-restaurant. It’s only possible to eat inside with a view upon a wall covered with plastic fake green. There was no music. It gave us a very strange feeling overall. For a hotel that present themselves as a city hotel, open all year, summer and winter, you should maybe take better care of guests who come only for a night, for exemple coming from Turkey. Why? Because if we like it we’ll come back, summer and winter, because it’s so close, and a nice thing for us to do. I don’t think that in winter you still have the manty Dutch guests coming and then what you’ll do? So my suggestion is to think about that before charging this ridicilously high rate for 1 night. I must say that the hotel is very clean, that the shower was great and the receptionist was very friendly but overall not worth the money, not at all. Anyway, in the end it was our own mistake and we learned our lesson. We’ll never be so impulsive again. We have been to this hotel on several occasions and cannot stop returning as it is so brilliant. Possibly the best run hotel we have ever been to and we have both travelled a great deal across multiple continents. The location, in the town of Kos, is just perfect for exploring or if you want to spend some time on the nearby beach. The outdoor pool is large, heated and spotless. The spa and massages are truly professional and the rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The highest praise has to be for the staff. Anna, Kristi, Margarita, Georgia, Michael and everyone across the catering, cleaning and support staff. But above all the manager Dimitra, who is the perfect host and runs this hotel is as perfect way as possible. The company who own the hotel must be very proud to have such a manager.
